Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation in order to treat disorders of a mainly psychological or emotional origin. Hypnosis is a state of the mind in which a person’s normal, critical, or skeptical nature is bypassed, allowing for acceptance of suggestions. This state of heightened receptivity for suggestions is developed with a cooperation of the patient and is followed by the delivery of positive suggestion.
Hypnosis is also described as “attentive, receptive focal concentration,” with the trans state being a “normal activity of a normal mind,” which occurs frequently, as when ready an absorbing book, watching a compelling movie, daydreaming, or performing repetitious activity. During hypnosis, the subconscious mind is in a suggestable state while the conscience mind is distracted or guided to become dormant.
